Vision

We imagine a Mongolia where nomadic culture and ancient traditions are preserved and passed down, as people of all ages thrive and adapt to the modern world.

We support wellbeing and culture in Mongolia, including:

  • Humanitarian support
  • Animal wellness
  • Vocational training
  • Mongolia awareness and travel
  • Activity centers for underprivileged children
  • Health, hunger and wellness initiatives
  • Book translations
  • Scholarships

Our vision is immense, yet the various projects are all part of an interdependent set of conditions. Together with you and our local program partners, we can work on all of this and more.

Nomads, Animal Husbandry and Training

Nomadic life with animal husbandry is the backbone of Mongolia’s economy. Grazing on the tall grasses of the steppe lands, many millions of sheep, horses, goats, yaks, cows and camels have been sustainably raised free-range on pristine land for millennia. Nomads move their herds to different areas to prevent over-grazing. As long as this system remains robust, this lifestyle can continue.

When severe hardship arises, some nomads are forced to abandon their way of life. When their herds die off in blizzards or from extreme cold after drought, or starve due to not being able to reach grasses under ice-pack, they no longer have the means to maintain their families, and end up moving to the capitol or a regional town seeking work. Often ill-equipped for professional-level jobs in a city, they live in rough conditions in a shanty sprawl on the edge of town, commuting far away for menial jobs.

Thus our reasons for helping nomads retain their way of life. As it is their chosen vocation and essential to the country’s economy, we can provide emergency support to prevent herd die-offs due to starvation. We can provide emergency animal feed. Even one mouthful of food can help a near-starving animal survive! Also, if a nomad loses an entire herd, we can provide starter animals so they can breed a new herd.

If they need help feeding their children, or need warm clothing or school supplies for their children, we can assist with that.

Our partner organizations can facilitate exchange of best practices to help nomads navigate changing conditions by offering training. We can help the nomads maximize profitability while reducing waste by processing agricultural products locally.

Underprivileged Children

Those who have already moved to the outskirts of a city work long hours, and their children may be left home alone after school. It would be so beneficial to provide more local facilities for safe, constructive indoor activities such as sports, music and dance for the children.

For both Nomadic and Post-Nomadic children, we aim to provide school supplies, school uniforms and scholarships for university.

Health

For the hungry of any age, we can provide food via a charity kitchen or food truck.

Mobile Health Clinics: We can fund mobile units so that medical workers can assist in various regions with disease prevention, dental and vision care.

For mental wellness in adults, we support Cognitively-Based Compassion Training®, which is proven to reduce stress, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder and increase beneficial states of mind.

For mental wellness in children, we support Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning®, which is being rolled out countrywide across Mongolia’s K-12 school levels.

Arts, Craft and Music

Mongolia has a proud history in the arts. We can help this continue by facilitating broader exposure of Mongolian artists.

We can facilitate training in such things as traditional woodcraft so that nomads may continue to build their own traditional furniture rather than needing to import it. This both keeps the beautiful tradition alive and expands livelihood opportunities.

Book Translations

Many more books are written in or translated into languages such as English than in Mongolian language. It is a small market. Select beneficial books are being translated by the Diluv Hutughtu Foundation into Mongolian.
